About Florida KidCare
The Florida KidCare program is our state’s children’s health insurance program for kids ages birth through 18. Four different programs fall under the Florida KidCare umbrella:
- MediKids, for uninsured kids ages 1 through 4
- Healthy Kids, for uninsured kids ages 5 through 18
- Children’s Medical Services, for uninsured kids from birth through age 18 who have special health-care needs
- Medicaid, for all children from birth through age 18 based on need and income. Children with other health insurance may still qualify for Medicaid.
A family’s eligibility is based on household size and income; all they have to do is apply, and Florida KidCare will determine which program is right for their family. Coverage is $15 or $20 a month, or nothing at all. Coverage is also offered at a full-pay rate for families who do not qualify for subsidized care.
Once enrolled, children have access to a variety of benefits, including doctor visits, check-ups and immunizations, dental care, surgeries, behavioral health, and more.
